The Research Unit of Computer Graphics wishes you a Merry Christmas with this brilliantly illuminated Christmas tree. Its temperature field is simulated using GPU-accelerated photon tracing [1, 2]: millions of perfectly traced rays contributing to a radiative transport operator driving a non-linear Newton-Raphson solver.

The IEEE VIS 2025 conference, held from 2–7 November at the Austria Center Vienna, brought together more than 1100 international researchers and practitioners for the world’s leading forum on visualization and visual analytics. This edition marked the first time the conference took place in Vienna, further establishing the city as an important center for visual computing research.

The 2025 VGTC Visualization Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Eduard Gröller. He is recognized for a distinguished career marked by novel contributions to the field of visualization and the development of innovative, impactful applications. His leadership within the community and dedication to mentoring emerging researchers have been instrumental in advancing the discipline.
