Platform for Animation and Virtual Reality

This project is funded under the EU Training and Mobility of Researchers programme.

Project overview

This TMR project is designed to bring together a significant team of workers in order to address problems common to virtual reality and animation systems. These problems include modelling, implementation, networked use, and control. There are many common issues which are currently being addressed separately by the individual communities. VR and animation are both showing early signs of maturity, so that we believe it is exactly the correct time to ensure that the communities inter-mix.

The interchange of workers which a TMR supports is an ideal vehicle for us to achieve these aims. All partners have substantial relevant backgrounds and are working in well-equipped laboratories. What is missing is the interchange of skills which this proposal aims to achieve.

Realistic animation and simulation of multi-body systems

As part of this TMR project our institute contributes to realistic animation and simulation of multi-body systems. This includes all scientific investigation and the implementation of a "Library for simulation of multi-body systems" in a period of 3 years, starting with November 1996.
