Abstract
This work presents a new approach of regaining access to stored information and for the visualization of similarities between new information and locally stored data. The fact that bookmarks are cumbersome to use and that there is no possibility to compare web search results with local information motivates the concept of this thesis. The implementation was done as Google Chrome extension and based on the ’Information Collage’ environment. In order to improve the perceived ease of use, the visualization was integrated in the search engine results page to avoid a context switch for the user. The visualization uses a word cloud to display similarities and differences between remote and local information. The word cloud layout focuses on the spatial arrangment and the text colour of the words to encode their association to the remote or the local information.Additional Files and Images
