These are the changes from VRML 1.0 to VRML 1.1:

VRML 1.1 supports dynamic input fields whitch can be modified by other nodes.

Describes a scene background whitch consists of a ground- and sky-colour or a texture.
CollideStyle
Describes collision of object with camera (for walls and co.)

Describes a shape as heightfield over a regular grid
Environment
Describes fog and ambient lighting
GeneralCylinder
Describes a sweep-shape with twist, bend and tapering
NavigationInfo
contains view type, speed and headlight state
VolumeProximitySensor
PointProximitySensor
Sensors that detect proximity to viewer
WorldInfo
contains title and other document information
Prototyping
new node types can be defined in the VRML file
