General Information

The Closed Meeting 2016 will take place in Low Tatras which is located in central Slovakia. It is approximately 350 km from Vienna.

We have booked places in a couple of bungalows below the Chopok hill (www.zrubypodchopkom.sk. Their address is Zruby pod Chopkom,s.r.o. Chopok Juh - Nízke Tatry, Brezno, 97701 (Tel.: +421 (0) 915 763 601), only in Slovak, although there is a google translate widget).

Social Event

Social event on Friday, 1st July after the meeting will be visiting the peak of Chopok (2,024 m). It is the third highest peak of the Low Tatra range (just after the neighboring Ďumbier and Štiavnica mountains) in central Slovakia. The peak offers a panorama view of High Tatra, Liptov and the valley of Hron. The climate in July will be 6°C (44°F). Chopok is the windiest place with a weather station in Slovakia. Bring along warm clothes and wear hiking shoes.

There are 2 cableways, which we have to use for our way to Chopok from the Chopok South park:

1. Srdiecko – Kosodrevina /B6/ - 4-seated chairlift

2. Kosodrevina – Chopok /A2/ - cableway (with capacity of 15 people) and the same way back.

The one way to Chopok takes about 30 minutes (the same time up and down). The operation hours of the cableways are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (every 30 minutes), Preordering lunch at Kamenna Chata isn't possible, therefore we need to arrive Srdiecko at the latest 13:00 p.m. The one cableway to Chopok takes about 30 minutes (the same time up and down). Charilift: Kosodrevina-Srdiecko

The last cableway from Chopok down is at 16:00 p.m. Please be on time otherwise you need to walk by foot and it takes about 2 hours.
