  • Working with novel biological data, especially in the field of next generation sequencing
  • Acquisition of external funding preferably from industry
  • Presentation and publication of results

What you will bring to the team

  • PhD degree in computer science, bioinformatics, information systems, or a related field
  • Experience in applied visual analytics and visualization research (and a feeling for good design)
  • Proven experience in web development (Javascript, especially React.js)
  • Experience in programming application interfaces (e.g., GO, C++, etc.) or willingness to get into it
  • Interest in heterogeneous neuroscientific data (basic experience in neuroscience or RNA sequencing data would be a plus)
  • Excellent team player with eagerness to lead
  • English communication and (scientific) writing skills (additional German would be a plus)

What we offer in return

  • Salary according to collective labor agreement (IT-Kollektivvertrag) including bonus for 13th and 14th month, i.e., monthly min. 3,094 EUR with overpay depending on qualification and previous professional experience up to 3,945.90 EUR gross per month

  • Location: Vienna, Austria with easy access to office by means of public transport
  • Flexible working hours, well-equipped workplace
  • Very friendly and supportive work atmosphere in an inclusive team
  • Opportunity to publish your research and travel to international conferences
  • Possibility to build up your own research team

Application deadline: 01.09.2021

We especially encourage female candidates to apply, for we wish to actively counter the lack of female researchers in the visual computing field. Therefore, in cases of equal qualification, preference is given to female candidates.
