There are five open Ph.D. positions at the Visualization Group of TU Wien (Austria) in Computer Science, in the area of (Biomedical) Visualization and Visual Computing. The successful candidates will be involved in research and teaching activities of our group, and will be able to pursue their research interests.
1 Ph.D. Position in Biomedical Visualization and Visual Analytics
We invite applications for a 4-year Ph.D. position, offering applicants an exciting opportunity to investigate novel Visualization and Visual Analytics strategies, to support clinical research on pediatric brain cancer therapy.
Requirements
Master's studies in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or another similar technical field (completed by the starting date of the employment).
Very good knowledge in Visualization and Visual Analytics.
Good programming skills (e.g., Python, C++).
Good communication skills and ability to work as an independent and flexible researcher in an international and diverse team.
Being curious, creative, and enthusiastic about research.
Very good command of English (speaking and writing).
Favorable Qualifications and Skills
Interest or knowledge in (Biomedical) Image Analysis, Machine Learning, and related frameworks (e.g., Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch).
Interest in supervising students and teaching (undergraduate/graduate).
The position will be funded according to the Austrian Collective Agreement for university staff, allowing you to support a comfortable life in Vienna.
Entry-level salary as a Ph.D. researcher is currently 2.228,60 EUR/month gross (30h/week contract), 14 times/year.
Duration of 4 years, starting date as soon as possible.

Desired Qualifications and Skills
Interest and experience in, e.g., one of the areas: interactive data analysis & visualization, (bio)medical visualization and visual analytics, (augmented) data physicalization, molecular visualization, network visualization, perception in visualization, immersive analytics.
Basic command of German, or willingness to learn.
Experience in supervising students.
