The joint research initiative between the Haubensak Laboratory at IMP and the Bühler Biomedical Image Informatics Group at VRVis is looking for your support! We offer a full-time position (adjustable to part-time) at VRVis, Austria’s leading competence center in the field of visual computing. You are the perfect fit for us if you are interested in bioinformatics and brain data mining. You will be closely embedded in both research groups benefitting from the interdisciplinary environment of our joint research projects.
Job Profile

  • Support and guide the research in our joint project that aims at identifying neuronal circuitry underlying brain functions related to ethologically and or biomedically relevant behavioral traits
  • Communication and presentation to end users and/or project partners from science and industry

What you will bring to the team

  • A master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong background in statistics, (biomedical) data science, machine learning and/or modeling
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python and R; additional coding skills are highly appreciated
  • Enthusiasm to acquire new skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently

Additional knowledge that would be a plus

  • Neurosciences, in particular computational neuroanatomy, decoding of neuronal population data, computational ethology, psychophysical modeling
  • Neuroscientific data handling, like fMRI data, neuronal calcium imaging and electrical recording data, genomic, structural and functional connectomic data
  • Familiarity with publicly available neuroscientific data resources
