Description

Stroke is a disorder characterized by the blockage of blood vessels. It is one of the leading causes of death and long-term disability worldwide, which makes an early recognition and treatment critical to improve the survival and functional outcome of patients [1].

This project aims to support patients with stroke risk and clinicians in the diagnosis and management of the stroke disease. The goal is to develop a web application that provides decision support to clinicians, and simplified views to patients to help them to understand their risk and aid their recovery process. A first design draft exists that can be used as basis for brainstorming [2].

Tasks

  • Review the state of the art in design methodologies and LLMs for visualization
  • Draft and evaluate different interface designs (e.g., using the five design sheets methodology [2] or comparable approaches)
  • Use LLMs to transform the most practicable design into an interactive web application with simulated data scores
  • Assess the LLM outcome [3] based on metrics from literature (e.g., code-quality, visual representations, hallucinations, etc.), and enhance it to meet the desired outcomes
  • Write a report on your approach summarizing related work, your methodology, and findings

Requirements

  • Interest in design methodologies and GenAI/LLMs
  • Programming experience of web applications is advantageous

Environment

The project should be implemented as web application (e.g., JavaScript/React/Docker).
