Speaker: Michael Rebec (ICGA)

In the last few years procedural modeling had been target of many researchers and different algorithms have been used to efficiently solve problems in this scenario. However most of the procedural modeling techniques do not take the physical principles of modeling into account.

This diploma thesis integrates physical feasibility checks into shape grammars. It will explore the possibilities to apply these checks not only for static layouts, like buildings, but also for objects which contain kinematic information, like a moving person. Furthermore it will investigate if rules can be dynamically applied, to keep the physical integrity of such an object, or if manual input is still required as it is necessary in existing techniques.
