Speaker: David Hedley (Bristol university)

The Scope rendering system has been developed over the course of the last 3 years to facilitate research into the fundamentals of computer graphics, with particular emphasis on discontinuity meshing. We discuss the design and architecture of the system, highlighting several software engineering issues using C, and the balancing robustness against efficiency. We then discuss the research currently being undertaken using the system: hierarchical radiosity and dynamic radiosity, and the implications they have for the underlying system.
