Readability Analysis alpha

the Java Documentation | the JavaScript Documentation | the Program

Ever wanted to quickly check whether your hard written documents will be understood and processed quickly by your readers? Well search no more, because here it is, a site where you can upload your document and in the blink of an eye see (and know) where those evil un-readability-ninjas snuck in. Spend your time with your kids or go for a nice walk around a lake nearby instead of reading, and checking ( and reading again ) your text to find all the places where un-readability is at.

"it's awesome!"- one of the programmers

system

Seriously, just choose a file that you want to check and click "show me" to see where you text could benefit most from rewriting. The Text will be analyzed taking into account the following five significant parameters.

word length | sentence length | vocabulary complexity | nominal forms | sentence structure complexity.

What do you see?
Your text will be split up into each sentence on the overall readability of each sentence is visualized with a color overlay ranging from red ( very hard to understand ) to blue ( well readable ). White means that "Average Joe" would understand. On the left you will see for each sentence a detailed visualization of its readablity of each parameter. You can click on each heading to sort your sentence-table from the least readable to the easiest.

system

Nice, huh?
Of course you can also sort your sentences chronologically to get an idea where the sentence is in your text. Just click the heading of the sentence table.

You're probably wondering what the purpose of the weird looking pentagon above the parameter table could be. It is a weighting pentagon!

system

Weighting pentagon, what? Don't panic. You can use it to customize the overall readabilty visualization of your sentences. Drag it around to mix around the weight every parameter has on the overall readability. Be careful not to drag the controll out of its pentagon, because otherwise time will end and the universe will collapse into a single pea.
