Documents containing multiple languages

Each language receives a distinct context attribute value. For ease of use one language is marked up as default using the XDEFAULT element. When a user selects this page through a link without context information she still gets a coherent page. From there a different language can be chosen. As an option a menu showing all the available languages coould be presented if no single language is selected.

If the information is wanted in more than one language at the same time, all the requested languages could be put into the current context. Special care has to be given to the design of the page if this mode of access is intended.

In using XHTML for this kind of pages two orginzational problems are solved. No special file structure or naming scheme has to be introduced to separate the pages. When updating it is easier to remember updating one page alone than two separate pages that might even be placed in different parts of the file system.
