Abstract

People always wanted a way to view three-dimensional objects on two-dimensional screens. Recently researchers developed algorithms for this purpose that do not need any special hard-ware, like Shutter-Glasses or polarization-glasses anymore. We will focus on the so-called Autostereograms, and especially on a simple algorithm for generating Single-Image Random-Dot Sterograms (SIRDS). After giving a short introduction and a historic overview, we depict the ideas of the algorithm, its basics, limitations and problems. Then we give a short view on future research.

General Terms:
Autostereograms, SIRDS

Additional Key Words and Phrases:
