About Helwig

I'm Helwig - Hi! ;-)  
[helwig (photo)]My full name is Helwig Karl Hauser (name before marriage: Helwig Löffelmann).  I was born on April 16th, 1971, as the first son of my parents and i'm currently (2006) living in Vienna, Austria.  After going to school in Mistelbach, then in Vienna, and then in Mistelbach again, I started studying computer science at Vienna University of Technology, Austria.  After graduating to a so-called Diplomingenieur (Dipl.-Ing., ~MSc.) in 1995, I finally graduated to a so-called Doktor der technischen Wissenschaften (Dr.techn., ~PhD) in late 1998.  For more details, please see my my curriculum vitae (old link). If you are interested in my publications, please see my publication list (old link).  From October 1995 until mid-2000, I was working at the Institute of Computer Graphics (Vienna University of Technology) as assistant and assistant professor (Universitätsassistent).  So I have, as all of the people at the institute do, an official staff page on our web server.  Since mid-2000, I'm working at the VRVis Research Center, also in Vienna, Austria.  Until 2003, I was leading the basic research group on visualization, before I became the scientific director of VRVis.
