Description
Overall we aim for a controlled high-performance deformation of spheres as well as the combination of multiple deformed spheres. There are various approaches in computer graphics to parameterize spheres like direct latitude-longitude mapping or cubic mapping. In addition, a sphere can be described by a spherical function. E.g. spherical harmonics can represent a vast variety of geometric constructs which are based on spheres. The goal of this project is to evaluate the best parameterizations for controlled sphere deformation and the implementation of operators to combine deformed spheres.
Task
