Applications of Smart Super Views
PR/BA/DA
Description
Smart Super Views are integrated views provided by some domain knowledge. This alleviates the user from choosing a suitable view out of many, because only the relevant views are shown. The choice of the user is shifted to the input in the form of if-then rules. These rules are provided by domain experts only once. The underlying paradigm of knowledge-assisted sparse interaction should now be tested for various application fields such as geographic maps or CAD programs. In both areas certain operations can be performed for specific regions. These can be mapped to rules and then later be used to provide only relevant ones. The goal is to find different possible mappings from domain knowledge to rules and evaluate their accuracy and usability. New possibilities could also be explored, for example, user profiles or histories.
Tasks
Your task is to study and visually evaluate the usefulness and applicability of smart super views for various applications areas. Although you will work along a defined way, we encourage you to contribute even with your own ideas.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge in computer graphics and visualization
- Programming in C++
- Knowledge in parallel programming (CUDA/TBB) is advantageous
- Knowledge of cmake and Qt is advantageous
Environment
Any framework is accepted, however smart super views are only available in the AngioVis framework. Therefore we suggest implementing the project as a plugin therein. Under the following link, http://www.angiovis.org/, you can find additional information concerning the framework and its application areas.
