Description

Urban rendering becomes an increasingly popular task in the recent years. City magistrates often order interactive 3D models of their cities to attract additional tourist attention. Other applications include, for example, such tasks as city re-planning.
In these cases some of the buildings or other objects may be more important than others, but obscured by nearby scenery. In recent time, a lot of methods were developed for rendering such objects, but most of them were specially desigend for volume rendering.

Task

The goal of this project is to adapt some of focus + context techniques to polygonal rendering, specifically - for urban rendering task. Such methods as ghosting, cut-outs, cut-aways, and context-preserving volume rendering. However, the student is not limited to these methods as he can decide to implement another ones.

Requirements

Good programming skills, some experience with shader programming, good knowledge and interest in computer graphics.

Environment

The student is free to select any environment and programming system he likes. There is only one limitation - the source code should compile and execute in MS VS 2008 environment.
