Description

The ambient occlusion plays a great role in increasing rendering quality. It adds a spatial cue for the object, allowing better shape recognition by the user. The goal of this project will be integrating some of the state-of-the-art methods in the Volume Shop framework.

Task

A first step of this project will be a straightforward ambient occlusion implementation with a pre-processing step a stroing the occlusion factor. Next step will be an implementation of one of the recent state-of-the-art techniques for interactive ambient occlusion. In case of success, the results will be used for illustrative 'smart' visualization of shadows.

Requirements

Good programming skills, some experience with shader programming, good knowledge and interest in computer graphics.

Environment

This project should be implemented as a plug-in to VolumeShop framework for volume rendering.
