Description
Visdom is an integrated system for simulation steering and visualization with the goal to support users in the decision making process. We envision future applications such as the assistance in emergency situations that are caused by natural disasters like floods. Thanks to a pluggable design, the system is capable to deal with different types of simulation and visualization modules. A specific setup can be realized via interaction with a graphical data-flow panel: The different modules (nodes) are presented as boxes, have output and input ports and are connected via simple mouse clicks. The connections represent the data-flow between the modules which all run as separate processes. The data-flow panel is part of a client written in ActionScript and Flex.Task
The task of this project is to further develop the data-flow panel to fit our novel ideas for visualization and simulation steering. The work will be part of "Semantic Steering", a new basic research project that is funded by the FWF. We expect the results of your efforts to be part of a scientific publication. You will work at the VRVis Research Center but also collaborate with our partners at the ETH Zürich. This way, you will experience team working in a collaborative software project and make important contacts in the field. Finally, you will receive payment if the task is completed successfully.Requirements
