 Compositing for Small Cameras

PR

Martin Knecht, Michael Wimmer

Description
The aim of the RESHADE project is to simulate the influence between real and virtual objects in mixed reality applications. Small cameras usually introduce a lot of visual artifacts and therefore virtual objects that are just rendered above the video frame appear artificial even with correct illumination calculation. The proposed compositing method recreates the visual artifacts on the virtual objects resulting in much more convenient images.

Task
Your task is to integrate and implement the Paper: Compositing for Small Cameras from Georg Klein and David Murray into our RESHADE framework.

Requirements
The students should be interested in some of the following topics: computer graphics, real time rendering, augmented reality.

Environment
We've already developed a C# based augmented reality framework that uses DirectX 10 for rendering (via SlimDX). We integrated PTAM into our system and are able to render scenes using real-time global illumination based on instant radiosity.
